They said "The book is awesome".
I said "Whatever...".
They said "It is a definate page turner"
I said "Every book is...".
They said "Kept me spellbound"
I said "Just shut up now, let me read it".
And now I am one of them.
Though it is a very late review for the book (almost two years later), but as they say better late than never...
Amish Tripathi, gains all the points as a debut author. He not only have the skill to hold the reader but have also passed a lot of information about the ancient Indian civilization to the readers. The perfect descriptive style of the author makes him different from the regular once. he has got the awesome study of ancient languages and have depicted the same in a beautiful manner in the book.
About the story line I don't want to tell much as it will ruin the tadka or the flavor of the book. Still I would like to say as it is a story of Fierce warrior, Passionate lover, consummate dancer and a charismatic leader SHIVA, who is a tibetian immigrant into the empire of Meluha with his tribe called as guna's. It is his journey throughout the country in search of evil where he comes across suryawanshi's the descendants of Sun and chandrawanshi's the descendants of Moon.
With a perfect story line, the description of lifestyle, architecture and medical prosperity during ancient India doesn't seem to be boring. The author had planned the story as a trilogy in the beginning hence the end of the novel is not that much impressive as the story breaks in the middle of an act. Well this is where a curiosity for the further story is generated within the reader. (A perfect marketing technique...That's what they teach in IIM's )
In short the book is simply awesome and worth spending a few days in reading it. I am waiting for the further parts of the series and hope have a same experience reading them. Overall I'll give four stars out of five to the book and recommend to the readers who like reading myth-fiction and action stories like those of HARRY POTTER, TWILIGHT, KANE CHRONICLES and so on...
